Description:

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services proudly presents the Advanced SRO Course for School Resource Officers (SROs). For the first time, the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program is partnering with the Active Attack Program to deliver a comprehensive three-day advanced training designed specifically for experienced SROs. This course integrates leadership training, school safety assessments, crisis planning, ICAC investigations, and crisis response expertise to provide SROs with the advanced skills necessary to lead proactive safety initiatives, enhance security infrastructure, and respond effectively to critical incidents.

This dynamic course of instruction prepares the first responder to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active shooter. It will cover shooting and moving, threshold evaluation, concepts and principles of team movement, setting up for and room entry techniques, approaching and breaching the crisis site, secondary responder tactics, improvised explosive devices, and post-engagement priorities of work. The course will culminate with dynamic force-on-force scenarios.
