The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), in collaboration with the Washington/Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA), is pleased to announce the “Body Language, Threat, and De-escalation” training presented by Behavioral Analysis Training Group. 

Description

This class will help law enforcement officers recognize behavioral cues and body language associated with deception across various situations. The topics include body language, communication mindsets, cognitive limitations, psychological aspects of deception, and verbal analysis and questioning techniques. 

The course will be conducted in a participative, lecture-style format supported by audiovisual presentations. The instructor will engage students actively, encouraging discussion and sharing real-life scenarios to illustrate concepts effectively. This interactive approach ensures a more engaging and practical learning experience. 

Who Should Attend

This training is only open to sworn law enforcement officers. 

Partial In-service Credit

Partial In-service Credit (PIC) for Virginia law enforcement officers is available for this course.  

Cost and Registration

There is no cost to attend this training; however, pre-registration is required.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals

Participants are responsible for their transportation and lodging arrangements and expenses.

Training Time and Details

  • Check-in will begin at 7:30 am

  • The course will be held from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm each day
