Description
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is proud to present “Safety Strategies and Development for School Administrators.” This dynamic, interactive in-person course is specifically designed to empower school administrators with the knowledge and tools needed to strengthen the School–Law Enforcement Partnership, enhance school safety, and navigate current trends impacting today’s students. This training addresses the unique challenges faced by school administrators, offering up-to-date information and proven best practices to create and maintain a secure learning environment while fostering effective collaboration with law enforcement. Together, we strive to build resilient and supportive schools that promote safety and success for all.
In this course, participants will have an opportunity to learn about:
• School – Law Enforcement Partnership
• Legal Topics for School Administrators
• CPTED Principles / Tabletop Exercise
• Current Drug Trends
• Navigating the Digital Dilemma with Youth
By the end of this one-day (8-hour) training, school administrators will leave with actionable strategies to enhance collaboration with law enforcement, implement safety measures, and better support their school communities.

Superintendents, school administrators, teachers, school support staff.
Partial In-service Credit
Not applicable.
Travel, Lodging, and Meals
Transportation, lodging, and meals are the responsibility of the student.

Registration begins at 7:30 AM
Training will be from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Cost and Registration
There is no registration fee to attend this training.
Pre-registration is required.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
