Description:

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce an opportunity to participate in a Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM) Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Workshop on June 26, 2025 in Richmond, Virginia.

Completion of an in-person SRP/SRM TTT Workshop allows attendees to conduct SRP and SRM training within their organization for two (2) years. After two years, the individual must attend another Train-the-Trainer Workshop, as materials are updated periodically.

Since 2021, DCJS has been leading a voluntary statewide implementation of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and the Standard Reunification Method (SRM). These processes, developed by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation (ILUG), are simple and use plain language, complementing existing crisis plans rather than replacing them. The ILUG programs for crisis response and post-crisis reunification are utilized in over 50,000 schools, divisions, departments, agencies, organizations, and communities worldwide. They are based on research-backed best practices from school administrators, psychologists, public space safety experts, families, and first responders.

Completion of this one-day training will:

  1. Introduce participants to the history, concepts, and functionality of the SRP and SRM.

  2. Provide a deeper understanding of the five action steps and their associated directives to effectively implement the SRP for managing daily operational school-based events and emergency situations.

  3. Educate participants on the reunification process and roles involved in the SRM and how it should be used for the reunification of students with their parents or guardians in the aftermath of a crisis.

  4. Equip participants to train others in their organization on the SRP and SRM.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop will benefit all division and school staff, school security, law enforcement, and other first responder partners.

Partial In-Service Credit:

Partial In-service Credit for law enforcement officers is available.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals:

Participants are responsible for their transportation, lodging, and meal expenses. Lodging rates are available per diem (lodging link pending).
