Tina Sumpter started with the Virginia Department Criminal Justice as the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) as the Accreditation Coordinator December 2022. She assists with coordinating the VLEPSC program, Certified Crime Prevention Communities Program, and the Virginia Criminal History Audits. She was with the Page Sheriff’s Office from 2004-22 where she served as the Grant Specialist and Budget Specialist and assisted with Crime Prevention Outreach and Events until 2013 when she became the Grant Specialist/Accreditation Manager. While with the Sheriff’s Office she guided the agency through three recertifications, revised and reviewed agencies policies, conducted several assessments, conducted several mock assessments, and became Master Assessor. From 2002-04 she was County of Page Economic Development and Planning Specialist. From 2002 to 1998 she worked at Garrett County Community Action Community and Emergency Services where she managed several assistance programs for low-income families. Tina served in the AmeriCorps Program from 1995-97 where she assisted low-income families with heating assistance and worked with American Red Cross to assist flood victims of Hurricane Fran in Western Maryland. She has received two Maryland Governor’s Citations for her services in 1996 and 1997. She has studied Business Management and Marketing at Frostburg State University, MD, Glenville State College, WV, and Garett Community College, MD.
